Friday Five | Five of my favourite Rugs

Hello Guys and Happy Easter! What a strange Easter weekend it is… At least the sun is shining though and keeping our spirits high(er)

I hope you’ve all been ok? Nothing much to report over here, its been business as usual. Anyone else getting frustrated at not being able to do any DIY around the house? Being in lockdown makes the jobs you have on the list seem even more essential, but the fact that you can’t get out to get any supplies, and if you want to get them delivered you need to be prepared to trade in your left kidney and wait 3 months.

I’m decorating the playroom at the moment because it’s been on the list a long time and the kids are starting to play together in there now. I ordered tester paints a week ago and they aren’t due to be delivered for another 2 weeks… and they are just samples, so if I like them, I’ll have to wait another 3 weeks to get the actual paint!

In the grand scheme of things though, waiting for paint is just an inconvenience and there are much more serious things happening in the world right now. I just thought a few of you might feel my pain, my husband and kids couldn’t care less!!

Anyway, the real reason I’m here. I’ve been sourcing a new rug for the playroom and La Redoute currently have a sale, so I thought I’d show you some of my favourites. If you like any, get ordering quickly as the sale is ending Tuesday.

Xava Spotted Berber-style Rug | from £64.35

Xava Spotted Berber-style Rug | from £64.35

This is the rug I chose for the playroom. Its such a simple design and has a deep pile which will be great for the kids to sit and play on. When it comes to rugs, I love them to either add texture or pattern to a scheme and this has a little of both. I’m going for quite a bold paint colour scheme on the walls so I opted for a rug that would let the walls do the talking and add depth rather than drama.

Ankara Kilim Flat Woven Wool Rug | From £97.50

Ankara Kilim Flat Woven Wool Rug | From £97.50

The love that I have for this rug is STRONG. The soft colour palette is beautiful, its just the right mix of colour and neutrals which means that it could be a stand out piece in a room without overpowering it. The colour blocking is very on trend and I can see it paired with simple, washed oak or bamboo furniture for a cool scandi vibe.

Weso Leaf Pattern Rug | From £64.35

Weso Leaf Pattern Rug | From £64.35

We love bringing nature into our designs here at Interior Stories because not only does nature soothe our soul and improve our wellbeing, but you can’t beat the beauty of Mother Nature. I adore this leaf print rug and think it would look great in a bedroom or a garden room as above. Its just the right mix of pattern and colour and the flat weave means that it can go in heavy traffic areas without getting worn down.

Ashwin Berber-Style Wool Rug | From £243

Ashwin Berber-Style Wool Rug | From £243

This came a close second in my search for the playroom rug. I love the colour palette and the playful pattern makes it perfect for a playroom or nursery, but I didn’t go for it because I decided to go for a plainer rug in the end. This would look great in a more neutral room to add some pattern and texture.

Eyden Aged-Effect Indoor/Outdoor Rug | From £98

Eyden Aged-Effect Indoor/Outdoor Rug | From £98

I recently sourced a similar rug for a project I’m working on and I just love how antique effect rugs add character to a scheme. They pretty much go with any design because they are a stand out piece on their own and add to a scheme rather than blend into it. I prefer to use flat woven antique effect rugs because they look more authentic. They are also great in high traffic areas and with pets.
